YOUR TOP 10 SURVIVAL RULES

 

Fair enough, there’s a lot to learn about surviving in the outdoors and knowing how to prevent and be prepared for the risks of winter riding. To refresh yourself before a trip, refer to this list.

We’ve summarized the top 10 survival rules for you: 

  1. Always wear your helmet and protective gear.
  2. Never travel alone. Take a buddy.
  3. Leave a completed Trip Plan with someone you trust.
  4. Pack a First Aid Kit and know how to deal with injuries.
  5. Pack a Survival Kit (with a 2-day supply of food and water).
  6. Check the weather before you go and dress for it (layer up!).
  7. Carry mapping tools: Trail maps, topographic maps, a compass and a GPS.
  8. Take a fully charged cell phone.
  9. Know how to build a fire and shelter.
  10. Know how to signal for help.
